Take 4 colour trends...

Colour has a big impact in our lives, it can make us feel happy or sad. For autumn winter this year we have four very different looks, here’s how to use them in your home.

INDIGO BLUES

Farrow & Ball’s Stiffkey Blue has inky tones that add depth to a scheme. It would work best in a room with good natural light and high ceilings. Team it with crisp whites (shown here is Farrow & Ball’s Wimborne White) to add balance, and mid-toned wooden elements like this worktop and bench to create warmth. An accent of yellow gives a pop of colour that contrasts beautifully against the blue. Our Room 9 full spun blue pendant light is the perfect choice for this scheme, it has a white organic shade and a blue interior, £245.

REFRESHING GREENS

Green can be an incredibly restful colour to use, it can give a calming and serene feel and most definitely brings ‘nature’ inside. Valspar’s Bog Fog is a refreshing tone that looks great with white and dove greys. It will also work well with metallics like copper and silver, and pretty floral cushions to soften the look. The Shepperdine compact sideboard would look great with this scheme, the rustic style solid elm top and ivory painted body gives a Scandi feel that will make it work well with green, £599.

MUTED TONES

One of the autumn winter trends from Crown Paints is called ‘Considered’. This look is perfect for pastel palette lovers, think soft blues, calming lilacs, barely-there pinks and faded greens all used together. It’s about simplicity, restrained shades and has a pared back quality, which lends itself well to the Talisa six seater Colour Blend dining set, £499. You get the Alexandra high gloss white dining table with two grey, two teal and two white contemporary dining chairs with textured backs from the Talisa range.

PRETTY PINKS

Have you heard the name Heart Wood in the last few weeks? Well, it’s Dulux’s Colour of the Year for 2018, so you’re going to see it around a lot in the next few months! Dulux have identified that this lovely warm pink shade is the one colour that’s relevant in homes around the world for the next year as chosen by their Global Aesthetic Centre. It’s cosy and calming, and looks fabulous with a wide range of colours, including all the trends mentioned above. Classic cream adds a relaxing contrast as can be seen here, so try teaming your Heart Wood walls with the Otis 3 seater sofa in beige, £699, that has a contemporary feel and sleek black steel legs.
