How to use Dulux's 2019 Colour of the Year, 'Spiced Honey'

You may have heard that Dulux recently revealed their ‘Colour of the Year’ for 2019. The shade of the moment, ‘Spiced Honey’ is described by Dulux’s colour experts as a warm amber tone which reflects the new, positive mood of the moment. It is undoubtedly a versatile colour which can be used throughout the home to create a calming and cosy atmosphere, as well as pairing with a diverse range of complementary colours.

For those of you who are fans of an on-trend interior scheme, we thought that we would explore exactly how to use Spiced Honey in your home and what furniture to pair it with, covering both options from calming and contemporary, to a more vibrant and eclectic look!

CALMING AND CONTEMPORARY

According to Dulux, Spiced Honey is perfect for creating a soothing colour palette, making it ideal for living rooms, as well as bedrooms. When creating a serene interior, grey is the perfect complementary colour thanks to its permanent on-trend status and neutral versatility.

When using Spiced Honey to create a calming and contemporary living space, a modern sofa is a must-have! Part of our brand new velvet & vence sofa collection, the Ruben 3 Seater Sofa  (£499) perfectly captures contemporary style with its cylindrical side cushions and grey vence upholstery. The wooden legs of this sofa give it an injection of rustic warmth to complement walls painted in Spiced Honey.

Any calming living space needs a cosy corner with a comfortable armchair. Our Zara Armchair (£299) has wide arms and generous dimensions of L.109 X W.90 X H.86cm, whilst its grey vence upholstery complements numerous 2 and 3 seater sofas within our sofa collection.

Needless to say, a coffee table is also a must-have for any living room. In particular, a hardwood coffee table adds rustic warmth to complement Spiced Honey's caramel tones. With its hardwood herringbone parquet top, the Grafton Grey Coffee Table (£339) is perfect for creating a sophisticated and inviting living space. Functionality has not been overlooked either and this table features two storage drawers which can be opened from either side, perfect for storing away any TV remotes and DVDs.

Spiced Honey is also a great choice for creating an inviting dining space for family mealtimes and dinner parties. To set your dining room off in style, why not pair the Colour of the Year with an equally trendy Scandinavian-inspired dining set such as the Bojan 6 Seater Dining Set in White (£499) which combines our bestselling Bojan bucket chairs with a mid-century inspired solid hardwood table.

VIBRANT AND ECLECTIC

If you prefer a slightly more adventurous interior scheme, then Spiced Honey can certainly still be for you! The rich and luxurious honey hue pairs perfectly with the cool toned yet equally rich shade of blue seen in our velvet sofa collection. Available in both 2 and 3 seater options, the Presley Sofa (£399 and £499) has a retro-inspired design with luxurious velvet-look upholstery which is perfect for creating a luxurious living room.

Likewise, the Theodore Armchair (£299) puts a modern spin on a traditional design, with flared arms and button detailing which when combined with Spiced Honey allows you to create a living space which is packed full of personality!

What's more, a rich shade of chocolate brown is another perfect pairing for Spiced Honey and our Catana Retro Round Table (£99) is an ideal choice if you are looking to create a retro-inspired living room with plenty of character and a quirky appeal.

Finally, if using Spiced Honey to create a more eclectic dining room, a dining set with a pop of colour such as our Aria Glass 6 Seater Dining Set in Blue (£599) is sure to give your space a vibrant look, whilst the glass dining table also helps to create the illusion of more space.
