Four dining table trends to embrace this year
We all need them… tables that is - unless you want to sit and eat on your knee every night! You do? Oh, well have a look at these super cool dining table trends anyway, they are all beautiful - we promise!
Retro vibes
First up is this Scoop extendable 4-seater white dining set that oozes Scandi charm. The crisp white table top contrasts beautifully with the solid oak legs, and lends itself to pared back styling using natural materials like slubby linen runners and napkins, textured ceramics in the form of mishapen earthy tones tableware and beautiful handblown coloured glassware. Pop sheepskins on each of the chairs to add a cosy, tactile element - mix and match colourways, you can buy creams, greys and taupes these days.
Wonderful genuine natural soft thick wool rug in jacob mix, £89.95, Milabert.
Contemporary space
Sleek lines and tapered legs make this Clayton dining set a must have buy for modernists. The benches are a great alternative to chairs and are designed to sit underneath when not in use. Table linens with the colour palette of mid greys and indigo would work well to contrast against the oak toned table top. Choose ceramic vases in organic shapes to add interest and fill them full of eucalyptus - one of the big floral trends this season.
Linen hemstitch tablecloth in charcoal, from £59, linen napkin in charcoal, £8.50, The Linen Works.
Classic family fun
Big family to feed or simply love entertaining? Then this splendid Orson extending dining set is for you. It extends to a whooping 270cm making it ideal for special occasions and parties. Pop a runner down the middle to break up the expense of wood, try an accent colour of saffron - one of the big colours for 2017, it will add a bold pop of colour that will work very well with the matching soft grey bucket chairs. Team with simple white tableware and finish off with some pretty blooms picked from the garden.
Simple 22 piece dinner set, £372, Charlotte Storrs.
Hipster chic
The industrial trend is here to stay and this edgy looking Brunel 6 seater bench set is crafted from distressed grey painted steel and greywashed wood. There are three colours that lend themselves to this look - gunmetal grey, black and crisp white. To soften the look why not add a natural material to the mix - another trend this year - in the form of place mats and coasters. The tactile element will add a decorative dimension to the scheme.
Seagrass placemats, set of 4, £20, Also Home.
