Out & Out Style - Insider tips from French for Pineapple

In this part of the world, we need to make the most of every minute of sunshine when it comes our way. After all, it's good for the mind, body and soul! For me, that means spending as much time in the garden as I can in the afternoons and evenings, and on the weekends, and making it comfortable and inviting.

In this part of the world, we need to make the most of every minute of sunshine when it comes our way. After all, it's good for the mind, body and soul! For me, that means spending as much time in the garden as I can in the afternoons and evenings, and on the weekends, and making it comfortable and inviting.

We have artificial turf, which is basically like soft outdoor carpet, and I absolutely love it. I mean, seriously, trying to maintain a decent lawn in this country is way more effort than I could muster. It means we have a spot for the kids to roll around on, and play water games without having to worry about mud or waterlogging. I actually forget that it's fake, especially when a few leaves have fallen on it making it look even more convincing. It's the ideal base for setting up a nice inviting sitting spot.

If there's no rain forecast for the day on a Saturday morning, I like to set things up once it's starts to warm up, and leave it there for the day, so that we can all pop out in and out of the garden when the mood strikes, and have a nice place to sit.

I take throws and cushions outside and lay them out on the grass in front of our Salem chairs and side table. This makes for an enticing place to sit or lie-down, and encourages us all to venture outside more.

If we're having friends over in the evening for drinks, I'll add lanterns and scented candles to this set up, and of course a cheeseboard and some bread to accompany the wine!

If more seating is required, I bring out the bench seats that we use at the kitchen table. The Lutyens 3 Seater Reclaimed Teak Bench is one of my favourite outdoor pieces from the Out & Out Original range, and would be right at home in my garden, and mixes beautifully with the Salem set too.

Of course if you have the luxury of more space, some of my favourite lounge furniture sets are the Miami Wooden Garden Lounge Set With Cushions (love the colour of the cushions!), and the chic California Five Seater Lounge Set in Graphite.

Don't forget the ice bucket, and a couple of extra throws or blankets, for when it gets a little chilly later on, so that you can really maximise your garden time!
