Making Scandinavian Style Work in the Summer Time

Making Scandinavian Style Work in the Summer Time

Here at Out & Out, we are big fans of the understated style of Scandinavian-inspired design. When thinking of this style, fur throws, thick rugs and log fires often spring to mind. However, this needn’t be the case. In fact, the Scandinavian style works just as well during the warmer months to create bright and airy spaces and what’s more, it can even provide a source of garden design ideas when it comes to giving your outdoor space a refresh.

BRING THE OUTSIDE IN:

Bringing the outdoors in with live plants is a failsafe way of adding a touch of summer vibrancy to your home and our Concrete Planter on Plant Stand perfectly captures the Scandinavian style. Part of our recently launched planters and pots collection, this planter is constructed using durable concrete with wooden legs, adding a rustic touch which gives a contemporary look as well as the ultimate resilience, meaning it is ideal for use both indoors and out.

Concrete Planter on Plant Stand: £99

FRESH AND NEUTRAL COLOUR PALETTES:

Colour palettes associated with Scandinavian style are often fresh and neutral and nothing captures this better than our Talisa Mixed Colours Dining Set. This set combines our Talisa dining chairs in complementary shades of white, teal and grey, with a generously sized white gloss table which measures 150cm. If you’re looking for dining or living room makeover ideas then this set is a great place to start, acting as an eye-catching focal point.

Talisa - Rectangular Dining Set - 6 Seats - Mixed Colours: £499

A SUBTLE POP OF COLOUR

Whilst Scandinavian décor is known for its subtle and minimal look, to put a fun twist on this style for the summer time, why not add a splash of colour in a unique and unexpected way? Our Room 9 Medium Pendant Lamp in Yellow perfectly achieves this with a hand-glazed yellow inner colour, with the shade’s exterior having a natural finish. To top it off, the fabric cable used to hang this shade is available in silver or vibrant orange.

Room 9 - Pendant Lamp - Medium - Yellow: £135

When it comes to comfort, our Dream Armchair in Blue really is what dreams are made of! Its subtle blue colouring and generous size makes it perfect for lounging, with a contemporary design which wouldn’t look out of place in a stylish Stockholm apartment!

Dream - Armchair - Light Blue: £499

SCANDINAVIAN SILHOUETTES

The modern and minimalistic look of a bucket chair is a typically Scandinavian design, but to keep your space looking bright and airy for the warmer months, be sure to opt for a fresh, white shade. Our Bojan Chairs in white are available either individually, as a set of 2, or paired with a host of dining tables in various different combinations. They are made of high quality resin, with an integrated, artificial leather cushion pad and solid oak legs, guaranteeing style and substance.

Bojan - Bucket Chairs - White - Set of 2: £99

AL FRESCO LIVING

Capturing the Scandinavian style in the home doesn’t need to be restricted to just the indoors, if you’re in need of some garden design ideas then why not use Scandinavian style as a source of inspiration? Pair our Akola 6 Seater Dining Set with a rustic decked area to create a contemporary outdoor space. The newest addition to our outdoor furniture collection, the Akola set features six generously sized bucket style chairs and a matching table in chic graphite grey. Thanks to its durable resin construction, it is also maintenance free.

Akola – Dining Set – 6 Seats - Grey: £593.01
